What I believe:

I believe in the United States of America and the government of our fathers.

I believe in our Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land, and that, as Thomas Jefferson said, “…[it] is unquestionably the wisest ever yet presented to man.”

I believe in limited government.  Regulation takes away rights and privileges and, it is imperative to regulate carefully and to the extent necessary.  Bigger government leads to layers of bureaucracy and waste and mismanagement of taxpayer funds.

I believe in a strong national defense.  In order to preserve our freedom, liberty, and rights, we must have a strong defense.  To have anything other than a strong national defense leaves us at the mercy of aggressors, depravity, and evil.

I believe in fiscal conservatism, responsibility, and accountability in government. Government serves the people and must be good stewards of the public trust, transparent, and accountable. We must reign in irresponsible, out-of-control spending.  The people have a right to know the people’s business.

I believe in personal rights, personal responsibility, and personal accountability. This country is still the Land of Opportunity and we have rights and privileges.  We are responsible for our choices and actions. We are entitled to Life, Liberty, Property, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  We are not entitled to government handouts at the expense of all citizens, nor are we entitled to our neighbors’ property.  Integrity is a prized possession.

I believe in the free market system. While government has a limited role in ensuring against unscrupulous practices, monopolistic practices, and harmful activities, the free market system motivates individuals and businesses to compete, to achieve, and to succeed and, in return, be rewarded accordingly. The market determines supply and demand.  Government has no incentive to make products affordable or efficient and, should provide certain services that the free market cannot provide and that are necessary (defense being one).

I believe in life and families. I believe in school choice and the rights of parents to exercise freedom of choice in the education of their children and, since the government collects money for education of children, the government should re-allocate funds to parents who choose not to use the public education system. I believe that life is a gift from God, precious and dear.

I believe in leaving this country to posterity in better condition than what we inherited.  This means that we should not waste, mismanage, or squander our assets and resources and, we should not burden future generations with our debts, programs, or entitlements.  I believe that God gave us this planet to use and enjoy, including using the resources to our benefit.

ABOVE ALL, I believe in God, our Creator, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. I am an evangelical Christian and I respect the right of others to choose their god, their religion, or no religion at all.
