Betty has over 30 years experience in real estate, right of way, and oil & gas land management.  Her public sector experience includes positions as Acquisition & Relocation Supervisor for Colorado Department of Transportation Regions 2 (Pueblo) and 3 (Grand Junction) from 2000 to 2004, and Real Estate Services Manager for the City of Colorado Springs from 2004 to 2006.  Her private sector experience includes Land Manager and Senior Landman positions with independent oil companies and, senior marketing positions with environmental & engineering firms.  She also owned and managed a real estate/asset management company providing marketing and consulting services.

Betty considers herself a Coloradan, even though she was born in Germany during her father’s tour of duty with the United States Army, and grew up in El Paso, Texas, where her father retired.  Her father was raised in the San Luis Valley and, she has many relatives who are long-time residents of Alamosa, Del Norte, and Colorado Springs.

Betty started her oil and gas career in 1975 and, after the collapse of the oil and gas industry in the mid 1980’s, she started a career in real estate specializing in foreclosures for savings and loan institutions and the Resolution Trust Corporation (affordable housing).  Realizing the need to diversify her skill set, Betty earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1994, while managing her own real estate company, land consulting for the oil and gas industry, and raising her two young daughters.  In 2000, she decided to make a career change and pursue a career in the public sector. In 2005, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Betty is married to Gary Wine and has two daughters, Natalie (married to Dan) and Stephani (married to Andy), and four grandchildren, Brandon, Christian, Hannah, and Ryan.
